38 La Providence, Loft Conversion

38 La Providence, Loft Conversion

A loft conversion at 38 La Providence transformed unused roof space into a bright, functional living area. The design carefully balanced the need for structural reinforcement with the tight spatial constraints of the existing property.

The Outcome

The conversion delivered a comfortable new living space with minimal disruption to the existing structure. New ceiling joists were designed and installed, roof stability was reassessed, and structural alterations were integrated to allow for improved functionality, comfort, and access.

How we did it

We reinforced the ceiling structure by strengthening existing joists and adding new structural members as needed. The roof stability was assessed and enhanced where necessary. Openings for rooflights and a new staircase were designed and integrated to maintain overall stability.

The Challenge

The project had to overcome significant spatial constraints in a very tight loft area, limiting both design and construction options. Varying ceiling levels and inconsistent existing timber sizes required a customized reinforcement strategy. Structural changes had to be made with minimal impact on the original building, while meeting modern living standards and Building Regulations.
