The Outcome
The project successfully stabilized the slope at Cheval Roc Nursing Home and reconstructed the north-west wing, ensuring the safety and comfort of residents. The new building, constructed with structurally insulated panels, was completed rapidly, and salvaged windows contributed to both cost savings and environmental sustainability. The effective implementation of the fencing system enhanced safety around the site, allowing maintenance access while preventing falls, ultimately resulting in total client satisfaction.

How we did it
Hartigan began with a geotechnical survey to assess site conditions and collaborated with a specialist supplier to implement a slope netting solution that provided both support and erosion control. We managed the stabilization work by Geomarine, adhering to strict health and safety standards. Our team developed a modified fencing system for safe maintenance access and facilitated the rapid construction of the new building using structurally insulated panels, prioritizing the reuse of windows from the demolition.

The Challenge
The main challenge was ensuring slope stability after the cliff-face collapse, requiring careful planning and daily testing of grout for soil nails and piles. Additionally, modifying the temporary fencing system into a permanent solution for the marine environment posed design complexities. Coordinating with various stakeholders while maintaining safety and speed added to the project's complexity, but our team's diligence led to a successful outcome.
